RWB Donald G. Bovia was born in Toledo, Ohio on the 17th of May 1961, to Marvin and Lila Bovia, the middle child of three sisters and an older brother. After graduating from Macomber VTHS in 1980 he joined the US Navy as a Boiler Technician during which time he served onboard the USS John F. Kennedy CV-67, the USS Iowa BB-61, the USS Yellowstone AD-41 and the USS Duluth LPD-6, he also served two tours of Instructor duty at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. After retiring in 2000 he moved to Las Vegas, NM where his wife, Lori, was born and raised. Don and Lori were married in 1982 and have two children, Dillette and Donald, and two Grandsons, Johnathan and Gabriel.

Don was initiated, passed and raised in Chapman Lodge No.2 in 2010.  He was appointed District Deputy Grand Lecturer 3rd Masonic District by MWB Bill Childers in 2013. In December of 2013 he was elected to serve as Worshipful Master of Chapman Lodge, were he served until December of 2016 (3 years).  In 2017 he was appointed District Deputy Grand Master 3rd Masonic District by MWB Ernie Shoup, and again in 2018 by MWB Adam Hathaway and for a third time in 2019 by MWB Ralph Easley.

RWB Bovia received the degrees of the Scottish Rite in the Valley of Santa Fe, Orient of New Mexico in May of 2012 as part of the Centennial Class. He was Invested a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH) in 2017.

RWB Bovia is currently the Junior Warden of Chapman Lodge No.2 and Junior Deacon of Union Lodge No.4.

For the last 10 years he has served as Treasury on the board of the San Miguel County/City of Las Vegas Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). In 2017 he asked to serve on the board of the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Las Vegas Police Department. In 2009 he joined the Living History Unit at Fort Union National Monument and has been an active member ever since.

He is currently employed at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico as the Plant Operations Manager, Safety Officer and Emergency Manager.
