Masonic Organizations

The Masonic journey starts in the “Blue” Lodge with the three degrees of Initiation as an Entered Apprentice, Passing to Fellow Craft, and Raising to a Master Mason.  While there is no degree in Freemasonry higher than that of Master Mason, several organizations (often referred to as “appendant bodies”) have been created through the centuries.  The focus and purpose of these organizations vary to include further light in Masonry for the Master Mason, inclusion of ladies and youth, and establishing fellowship and charity within a certain arena.

Most appendant bodies require that you are either a Master Mason in good standing or related to one (other requirements may apply dependent upon the organization).  To the right are links to descriptions of the organizations that are currently active in New Mexico which are categorized describing their relationship to the Master Mason:

  • Petitionable  Bodies – Appendant bodies for Master Masons to expand their participation
  • Ladies Involvement – Organizations either coed or ladies only that have ties to the Masonic Fraternity
  • Youth Organizations – “Youth Groups” that are based in the principals taught by Freemasonry
